What you should know about Independent Commodity Services Pty Ltd
John has been involved in the agricultural sector for over 20 years. He has a technical background in agronomy, having worked in retail agronomy for eight years and as a MSW public service sector district agronomist in Condobolin and Al bury for six years. John joined the Holmes Sackett team in 2005 and has been a co director with Sandy McEachern since 2007. Areas of expertise include on farm investment and farm profitability analysis. Sandy has a long history with agriculture and quiet runs his own farm business. Sandy joined the Holmes Sackett team as a consultant in 2002 and in 2007, became a co director with John Francis. Areas of expertise include business analysis, bench marking interpretation, timing of management events, stocking rates, animal health, capital allocation to improvement of livestock, pastures and infrastructure. In 2010, David moved to ragga to unite the Holmes Sackett team as a consultant. He has completed a PhD in Rural Science, through the University of Fresh England, culminating in the publication of four peer review journal articles, one short conference paper and a thesis manuscript titled 'In paddock walkover weighing: accepting the factors affecting its potential for the Australian sheep industry'. She has eternal had a mighty interest in agriculture farming which led to her joining the Holmes Sackett team in 2007 in a financial role. Holmes Sackett's four key activities are farm bench marking, farm consultancy, publications and workshops. Holmes Sackett currently consists of a team of five, as healthy as a number of segment time staff members. Over the years I have found OnFarm to be a very valuable publication with its in depth and such healthy researched articles, not beholden to advertisers. The articles in OnFarm focus on improving the profitability of livestock production. I value the independence of the publication which stresses the importance of getting the fundamentals right the contributing authors are not swayed by overnight fads. Holmes Sackett Benchmarking has been a immense financial tool that has enabled objective self assessment of our business. Since the introduction of bench marking into our business in 1994 it has dramatically changed the way in which we run our business. No longer are we making impetuous decisions but well informed premeditated decisions based on hard and true figures. Consequently this led to a reduction in enterprises to focus on the earnings drivers. Holmes Sackett Benchmarking is singularly the superior tool on the farm. Combine that with the camaraderie of a like minded group makes bench marking the essential tool for all farmers. I wish more grazing courses were as factual and to the point as this one was. But when it comes to the lease value paid it’s a basic personal economic decision depending on your capital and labor situation at the time. OATS encourages industry participants to self assess their requirements for improved knowledge, skills development or training with the aim of increasing the agricultural industry capacity to respond to the challenges that arise from a temporary climate.
